Worldwide Famine on the Horizon

Well, Israel's third and latest Kenesset (think Israeli parliament) in the past year has formed. It's these elected officials who will ultimately vote in one of the candidates for Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu or Benny Gantz. Among this Kenesset, 15 seats are made up by the Arab Party. In order to be elected, each candidate needs at least 61 seats to form a government, so the Arab party currently has a lot of voting power in this election.
They are against Netanyahu and have a list of demands for Gantz:
"They include an end to Jewish visits to the Temple Mount, the holiest site in Judaism, and no unilateral steps linked to the Trump administration’s peace plan, dubbed the ‘deal of the century.’"
Gantz has recently expressed support for Trump's peace plan, which came as a bit of a surprise, as his track record shows he has often supported Israel giving up land, instead of defending Israeli sovereignty.
We should soon see what Gantz really wants to do.

Hundreds of BILLIONS of locusts have been estimated to be plaguing East Africa so far...and the article has this to say:
"The insects, which eat their own body weight in food every day, are breeding so fast numbers could grow four hundredfold by June."
The swarm is already the worst we've seen in the last 25 years, but they aren't done multiplying.
200 billion is the minimum number of locusts, because 'hundreds' (plural) means at least 200. So a conservative estimate for the number of locusts in June (if nothing is done to stop the growth rate) would be 200,000,000,000 X 400 which would be 80,000,000,000,000. Friends, that's 80 TRILLION locusts minimum they're predicting! This is an incredibly serious problem, the effects of which will very likely extend to the rest of the world.
Before the Tribulation the world will be more or less normal, to the point where no one really expects or anticipates the end of the age to come (save for those who are faithfully watching for Jesus). We see this in Jesus' warning:
As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. ~Matthew 24:37-39
The worldwide flood in Noah's day is a type, or a foreshadowing, of God's final judgment on the earth, ultimately realized in the Tribulation. Jesus is telling us that at the end of the age it will be just like the days preceding Noah's flood: very few will see it coming. And yet, a defining characteristic near the start of the Tribulation is a worldwide famine...so it must happen incredibly quickly to take people off guard.
In the book of Revelation, it's revealed that the catastrophic events unleashed on the world are triggered by the breaking of seven seals on a scroll in heaven. When the first seal is opened, it causes a rider to go out to conquer, which is likely the Antichrist being revealed. A second seal is opened, taking peace from the earth. People start to kill one another...why? War? Riots? We don't know. The text doesn't say.
But then this happens:
When the Lamb (Jesus) opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, “Two pounds of wheat for a day’s wages, and six pounds of barley for a day’s wages, and do not damage the oil and the wine!” ~Revelation 6:5-6
We see hyperinflation here, either due to a severe lack of food, a collapsed world economy, or both. The reason people are killing each other could be over not having enough food to eat.
When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth. ~Revelation 6:7-8
I'm not saying that this plague of locusts is solely responsible for the food shortage in the Tribulation, but it's very possible that this rapidly growing problem is a contributing factor.

The Coronavirus has put Netanyahu's indictment trial on hold indefinitely until the health crisis has abated. That means that even if he wins the current election, in the case that he's convicted of the charges against him, he will likely be removed from office...triggering another election. Israel, will you have a leader when Jesus opens those seals?
