The Rapture and the Feast of Trumpets
Updated: Sep 8, 2020
I've had this subject on my heart for a while now. And I know that, at first glance, any talk about the rapture seems crazy and even unnecessary. Why look for end time signs anyway? Shouldn't we Christians just live our lives and have God surprise us in His own time? Well, I watch for Him because God has told us that's what He wants us to do! Jesus, speaking about the final Judgment of God says, “Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man. (Luke 21:36)”
Many Christians dismiss any talk of fulfilled prophecy or signs when it comes to the rapture, citing Jesus' own words, “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. (Matthew 24:36)” To that, I give the words of Inigo Montoya, "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means." Andre Hendricks unpacks Jesus' statement at 23:40, but he gives a much more satisfying analysis at 34:40, where he connects Jesus' words to the Feast of Trumpets (and also associates it with a traditional Jewish marriage ceremony, at 1:09:08).
It's in God's character to warn about impending danger or judgment. God warned Noah before the great flood, Lot before the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Pharaoh through Moses before Egypt was overrun by plagues, and I believe that God is warning us again. Normally, I would research this topic and keep it all in mind without sharing it, but the deeper I dig into the Feast of Trumpets (in conjunction with the blood moon tetrad, among other evidence) the more I'm convinced that the rapture is very, very close.
If you can't spare an hour for the video above, the one below is a short and sweet (~14 minute) video about the Feasts of the Lord, which were first described in Leviticus 23. God loves people so much that He gave prophetic "dress rehearsals," so that when He intersects with human history on those days we would know that it's Him working!
The idea of specific prophetic days is supported by Paul's teaching that we should know when we can expect the Lord to act:
"Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need to have anything written to you...you are not in darkness, brothers, for [the Day of the Lord] to surprise you like a thief." ~1 Thessalonians 5:1-4
We will be changed at the last trumpet (a specific name of the closing trumpet blast on the Feast of Trumpets).
"I tell you this, brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed." ~1 Corinthians 15:50-52
I hope this encourages you. He's faithful! 😃
